VVAB krijgt prijs voor jarenlange inzet voor het erfgoed

Op 25 september 2021 ontving de VVAB van het Law Firm Network, een internationaal netwerk van advocatenbureau's, een prijs voor haar jarenlange inzet voor de binnenstad.

Vanwege haar samenkomst in Amsterdam - op uitnodiging van Wieringa Advocaten - had het Law Firm Network drie kandidaten in onze stad in gedachten voor de prijs: het Concertgebouwfonds, Artis en de VVAB, maar koos voor de laatste. In het juryrapport werd VVAB als volgt omschreven:

The Association of Friends of the Amsterdam Inner City, 'Vereniging Vrienden van de Amsterdamse Binnenstad' (VVAB) in Dutch, was founded in 1975 by concerned citizens of Amsterdam. Since they have initiated many initiatives including legal proceedings to preserve the old city structure and its typical houses. Partly thanks to them, a turnaround was achieved in thinking about the preservation of the inner city, against the trend of demolition and large-scale new construction.
The VVAB is there for everyone with a soft spot for the inner city of Amsterdam. (...) The VVAB makes a strong case for the preservation of the historic buildings, the restoration of the balance between living, working and recreation and the dissemination of knowledge about the Amsterdam city centre. The VVAB is a very active association and has activities not only for the preservation of the inner city, but also to appreciate it.'

De Law Firm Network Award 2021 werd op zaterdagavond 25 september 2021 in de Grote Industriële Club op de Dam te Amsterdam overhandigd aan Govert Janssen en Walther Schoonenberg. Aan de prijs is een geldbedrag van tweeduizend euro verbonden.
